ohhh..."big surprise"

We've had a crap ton of rain in our area the past 24 hours. My dad called me tonight to let me know that he totaled his car. He said a car coming in the opposite direction swerved into his lane because he couldn't stop in time to keep from rear ending the vehicle in front of him and my dad seeing the guy coming swerved to avoid him and hit a telephone pole. D'oh! My dad said that "he didn't call because he didn't want to stress me out and put me into early labor"....LMAO! okay- first of all i have a very messed up relationship with my dad and secondly him having a car wreck on a rainy day is as about as surprising as Elton John announcing that he's gay- if you didn't see it coming it's because you've been living on mars in a cave with a rock in front of it with your fingers in your ear. it literally happens about every 6 months- last time he hit a car (last fall) he hit a minivan that a mom had just gotten into the back of about 3 seconds beforehand to strap in her kids- he's a liability on wheels. so he actually had the audacity to ask me if i would help him sue the other driver to replace his car because the driver told the cop that he was in the wrong lane but my dad had plenty of time to avoid him... now i understand- you have a wreck, you automatically want a free car- here are the issues 1) ky doesn't assign liability for accidents on their police reports, 2) the other car didn't actually HIT him and here if you don't swap paint there's no liability, 3) we have this stupid PIP law that means that your insurance has to cover you for the first some odd thousand dollars of your accident. There's no way he's getting the money. What bothers me is that when I tell him this, much like every other member of my family, he assumes that I don't know what I'm talking about and asks me if I know a lawyer that can help him... no...i'm sorry. i don't know any lawyers. lmao.
